First Visit

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Thank you for choosing Mid-America Retina Consultants, P.A.! We pride ourselves in delivering outstanding, personalized vitreoretinal care to our patients. Your first visit includes a dilated eye examination and a comprehensive evaluation of your retina and vitreous. Special testing may also be performed at this time.

In order for your experience to be efficient and effective, we suggest you bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card(s)
  • List of current medications
  • List of prior surgical procedures

After our tests, we will discuss the results with you, as well as how treatments should proceed.

Because we have to dilate your pupils, your eyes will be sensitive to light, and your vision may be slightly distorted. These effects are normal, and usually subside within a few hours. You should plan to bring something to shield the sun from your eyes after your appointment, such as sunglasses or a wide-brimmed hat. Many of our patients also bring someone to drive them home.

Open Communication

We believe that quality care begins with open communication. We promise to speak candidly with you about our diagnosis and recommendations, any alternative treatments, and any symptoms present that may require further treatment.
